Make IT Last

The Art of Making IT Last Longer

Of course I am talking about soap…. What were you thinking??!

When I was a kid it was drilled into my brain that soap needed proper care. While everyone else got the lecture on wash, wash, wash, I learned how to take care of my soap.

When you grow up with not a lot, you learn how to take care of your things because often there is not a replacement and you learned how to extend the life of everything you had.

Soap was no exception to this rule… so here we go!

-          Buy quality soap from someone you trust. A personal note on this… I’ve tested my recipes on my kids, my husband, friends, family and even the grandkids! Some recipes are old, and some are brand new, so I just need to know that they work without causing any issues!

-          Different types of soaps have different ingredients. Before you say, “Obviously”, give me a chance to explain. Guys and Gals will by a soap for what it does and not because of the ingredients. What we need to know is that some ingredients react differently with different skin types. My ingredients are normally everyday farm ingredients, keeping the guesswork to a minimum.

-          Soap Dishes aren’t just for aesthetics! OK, they are for that too, but if you want a soap to last longer… dry it out! Yip, soap needs a break as well. After any wash, shower, tub, whatever… let the air at that baby and let it get hard again. Soft isn’t good for anything! (Disclaimer… yes, this sounds bad to me too! LOL)

-          Use more than one kind of soap! Keep wash time fun, not just functional. Once it dries out, grab a different one, and then next time a different one again! Our bathrooms look like soap stores all the time, and it’s not just because of all the testing!

OK Fleur, sum it up, I get it! Buy from someone you trust that uses their own products! Stock your shower or tub with products that fit your needs, and use a soap dish to let your bars dry out. Rinse and Repeat!

Thanks for being part of the dirt road path I’m on!
